My Name is Pitter

My first blog…I was asked to share a bit of my story. To be honest, it is the first time somebody has asked me to write about my life. I feel honored and I’m so excited!

Let’s start with the simple stuff. I live in Salinas, CA, with my BFF Nia Casad. And it’s not too far of a stretch to say that I owe her my life.

Nia’s mother was rescuing animals as long as Nia can remember, so she grew up with a big heart for animals and followed in the footsteps of her mother. At age 10, Nia started volunteering at a veterinarian’s office, learning all about animal care. She was hired at 16, and then at age 19 she stepped out on her own to start her own rescue.

We met through a TNR (trap-neuter-release) program. I was trapped as a little kitten. My lucky day, I tell you. I would have died without her. Nia was called and she took me in. For the next three weeks she kept me at her side day and night. She fed me, bought my medication and made sure I got every dose! Without Nia’s round the clock care, I would not have survived. And because I’m so incredibly cute and charming, she decided that I could live with her forever. What can I say – she couldn’t help but love me!

I know you may be thinking that I’m ‘just’ a cat, but Nia’s animal rescue has made a huge difference, not only for me but also for hundreds of animals. Her work makes a difference for the people who donate and volunteer as well. It brings out the best in them.

Yours sincerely, Pitter
